It was a such a film week for me. I went to another film screening. This time it was for "Who is Bozo Texino?" by Bill Daniel. It all starts with "Bozo Texino" which is a drawing seen on boxcars for more than 80 years (a long time before kids started painting colorful pieces on sides of boxcars with spray paint). It has been a mysterious secret society with its underground world of hobo and rail worker drawing/writing on them.I guess the Hobo culture has inspired a lot of the freight writers.
They don't hop on trains but their pieces travel through America (depending on the lines, some go to Mexico and Canada as well). Many of them know which yard and which car to paint so it gets travel. And nowadays, you can even track the car with the car numbers online or call the company.
This film makes me want to hop on a freight train! Great film!
先週はなんか映画週間になってしまいました。二日目はBill Daniel製作の"Who is Bozo Texino?"の試写会へ。アメリカの貨物列車に８０年以上前から描かれてきた謎のキャラ"Bozo Texino"から始まり、スプレーでカラフルなグラフィティピースが描かれるずっと前から、貨物列車に飛び乗り旅するHoboや鉄道ワーカー等がオイルステックで描いてきた落書き。この謎めいた秘密の世界が覗けます。必見♪
貨物列車の醍醐味はアメリカ中（線によってはメキシコやカナダ）を走ることで、どの車庫のどの貨物に描けば何処へ行くとかちゃんと知っているライター達も数多くいます。今は便利な物で貨物の番号を問い合わせれば何処にその貨物がいるのかもわかっちゃったりします。多分,旅するのは自分じゃなくて描いたピースですが貨物列車への魅力はHobo文化から受け継がれているのかもしれません。
貨物に飛び乗ってどっかへ消えちゃいたい症候群発病で現実逃飛行。したい。。。
